Thursday - Give Blood...

Ok...

Maybe it's an obsession of mine to help people out in any way shape or form, but I gave blood yesterday which inhibited me from working out or running.

Oh well...it's weird! Really weird that my life revolved around running...and how slowly life has changed...

Life has changed...work has changed and yet...I am still a little depressed on the fact that I need to work literally 4 different jobs to keep afloat...

Still did not get a "full time" job that I really want...

1) The factory job - Working for my two friends, JLB and TL, these guys at Out of Print Clothing is really a filler job at the moment. Which I am really grateful for, do not get me wrong. Minus maybe the below freezing conditions and steamy, sticky and sticky summers...it's a no politics, no drama job...which is great!

2) Team for Kids - organization of the workouts for the time being and being coach is what I ultimately love doing. Giving back to your running community and coaching...

3) Coaching - enough said...I love it, although it gets harder during the winter time.

4) The new job - NYRR and coaching teachers to coach the kids...should be interesting...really really interesting!

Wednesday - A little help...

I just think running makes me feel more disciplined. It makes me feel more committed, to not only my job, but to life. It makes me feel I'm doing all I can do to be as good as I can be.

Michael Waltrip, Race car drive

So...

It was a balmy 30 degrees at the factory today as I came in with a bit of depressional state. What was I to do as a job?

Seriously?

Right now I got an offer from the NYRR as I carefully think about taking on yet another part time job.

Seriously brian?

Yes, that's what I was thinking...

In the factory today, CM helped me out...I was not use to the fact of having someone else in the factory, but well...it's nice to have someone there. It was iry at first because it seemed like he as a ghost, as I saw a shadow here and there...

But it was nice to finally see someone and talk to someone again. Help was much needed but the amount was just too much to handle again...as I was overloaded with RMA's (returns) from the holiday season.

The CEO's were nice enough to buy us lunch...which is odd, but I'll take it. It's somewhat depressing because well...I do this daily and the main reason we got "free" lunch was because CM was there...what am I then? Chop liver?

Not cool...but whatever...I just need to now negotiate a deal with all these part time jobs and there is also one on the table now...I'm pretty scared of adding on another part time job with all the running around that I already do...

Seriously...the thought scares me, but I'll do whatever it takes...

Contacts...

Well...I was contacted by two different people today, both running related where both were two different incidents.

One: Team for Kids Vs Flotrack

There has been a huge problem with the new Flotrack website in a revamping issue. Since I am the person who posts items for Team for Kids, I was dragged into this mess...

The problem was based on how the old website didn't even match up with the new website (which, they wanted to make better)

I wrote to them saying this:

The other contact was from my BROOKS sponsorship, which I have received word in the beginning of the year (or was it close to the end of last year) and now they are contacting us about various races, incentives and races!

Ok, maybe I am getting a little too excited here, but they offered somewhat of some "free" races to first come first serve people who respond...of course I love everything for FREE! So, I contacted them requesting...to get a free bib in August for the 1/2 marathon in Providence...why not right?

I also asked to help promote Brooks products of various other things for my Alzheimer's Association Run to Remember team...

Our uniforms are usually enforced (enforced? Maybe that was not the real word to put it...but maybe a little less strong such as...choose? Pick? Select? Advised?...) that we get it from Asics because then we can put the official NYC marathon logo with ING (since they sponsor it) but we are looking elsewhere for a good price on Uniforms (Singlets) and other items such as Jackets and Promotional gifts from the chapter (I represent the Alzheimer's Association due to my mother having the Alzheimer's Disease)

Most of the team members (repeats) know that I represent Brooks and the ID program as I am wondering if:One: Is there a website where we can purchase Team Gear for a good price for this event?

Two: Is there a way we can get a discount on promoting Brooks gear (shoes, apparel, etc?)

Three: Is there a way that I can give some free promo items (for a fundraising event, etc?)

Ok...totally off the subject...

Thought this was funny at work today:

1. Go to Google Maps and click get directions.
2. Write U.S.A. as your start point.
3. Write Japan or China as your destination.
4. Go to the 31st point on your route.

There it says...

To Kayak across the Pacific Ocean...

I need to register...

For...

Most people would think that I would have to register for a marathon...

But not at all...

I need to register for the USA Track and Field coaching seminar that will be in the last week of March.

This totally screws things up because I was planning on going up to Boston to give myself a test run of the course and see where I will be at for the marathon. But now that this course is available, I probably will be doing that instead!

Boo! Eh, it's better for my future as a coach and will be set a little more promising for job situations.

Anyways, I canceled on LR's plans on going to the USA vs Argentina game at Giants Stadium that day due to having planned out to go to Boston...and now LR is disappointed...I don't blame her though, I'm disappointed in myself, but what can I do? I'm really trying hard in this economy and I can't seem to work anything out for a full time position...

It's daunting...really daunting in the job economy. I can't seem to get anything, a bite, nibble, etc. I have given myself a time limit for 3 more months in search for this "golden opportunity". After those 3 months, I'm going back in search for school or back with architecture. I have learned a whole lot from this experience outside of architecture though and well...

We can just only hope! Right?

So...I need to register for this coaching seminar and then hopefully get back into gear...

One can always still apply to other things when doing another thing though...

We can see...

Time will only tell...

Friday, Jan 14 - Hailie Steinfeld?

A little Alzheimers news for you...

Do you know the actress named: Hailie Steinfeld?

Well...she's the young actress nominated for the Best supporting actress award at the Critics Choice Awards...

Why am I talking about her?

Well...in my "spare" time when I was eating dinner on Friday night, I tuned into the Critics Choice Awards. They went through some actors and actresses and then it came to her and they brought up a little conversation piece about this "swear" jar that she in placed on the set...

I know, big deal, whatever! Right...but she basically in placed $5 for every "F" word that actors/set crew used on the set and every other swear word was a $1...in all she raised like $350 which she matched and gave to charity...

So what's the big difference?

The charity that she chose was the Alzheimer's Association...

But why? Why that charity out of all the charities out there?

I have searched long and hard, but no available...we'll see!

Sunday, January 16 - 21 miles...

21 miles...

1.8 miles up to TFK practice due to the fact that the subways were not working properly going across town and uptown...so I decided to run (in my mind it is so much faster on the weekend or any occasion, since I can beat the subways on a regular weekday.

7.2 miles for TFK practice @ a 10:20 pace going the entire loop with a new runner, trying to give all the advice I can give to a newbie runner.

Then...after that, 12 miles (2 loops) of the entire Central Park loop...miserable, due to the fact that I was running at a faster rate (the first loop @ a 7:15 pace per mile) and the second loop trying to contain myself a little more at an 8 minute pace per mile (although doing a 7:45 pace starting off and then accelerating at Harlem Hills going up the hills and hearing footsteps behind me...closer...closer! I need to speed up, although by that time I had been tired and felt the exhaustion set in. My energy levels were off as well due to not taking any gels or gu's during these long runs. I practice this as energy is stored or extended my lactate threshold and energy intake.).

The person (female) passes me as I compliment her on the trudging hills, she doesn't hear me, she's too busy listening to her ipod or tunes. I quickly decide to chase, although at times just try to hang on and go my own pace, but keep my sites on her...this is good practice for the real race where you can gain this type of motivation off of people and not give up...

I am frozen!

Completely frozen where my mind is fried, my legs are done and sore and completely done.
This was the first LONG run for the beginning of the year as it is all calculated to being a 20 miler run...first since the month layoff and feeling very wrecked, but the pace was good.

I think about next weekends half marathon where I am going to "race," but no where even close to where I want to be at. It will take some time...patience...patience.

I go to NYRR to pick up my things, go to the subway and go home...eat...nap...

When I woke up...I felt as though I was hit by a mack truck...very bad...so sore and wondered...how did I ever do this?

It's so cold...

Working at the factory today was well...

C-O-L-D!!!

I mean it was so gosh darn cold that I couldn't even think straight!

I am guessing that this is where I am wincing away from the cold weather and my runs...seriously, all I really want to do now is stay indoors and not go out all the time because of the threatening COLD!

Uh!

Anyways...the JETS blew away the PATS last night as this was a very memorable win! RS and I went to a local bar near her place and we had a very interesting night:

A asian lady (man?) next to us had HUGE boobs...we are talking like E size...and well...they were a very interesting couple...

The bartenders were very interesting people as well as they made themselves drinks, chatted and were they even doing their work? It was a very interesting time...

RS showcased what she was going to wear for the Flyer Awards Gala...which I have mixed emotions about...

Looking forward to my Monday night run...should be a good time tonight!
